Mindfulness-Based & DBT
Individual Therapy

These approaches work well with anxiety, depression and substance use disorder.

Mindfulness-based therapy encourages a deeper connection with yourself, inviting you to truly be present in each moment. Mindfulness trains your innate capacity to pay attention. This central capacity of the mind is deployed across all contexts and is thus a key factor that can encourage change in multiple domains.

During mindfulness exercises we pay attention to the sensations, thoughts, and emotions that arise and pass. You learn to observe your internal landscape without judgment or resistance. This acceptance cultivates a space of tranquility within the chaos of life. Mindfulness quickly teaches us that we are not identical to our thoughts or feelings. This dis-identification with thought is an initial shift that begins to truly alter our conscious experience.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) complements mindfulness by providing practical tools for emotion regulation and stress management. It invites an exploration of the delicate balance between acceptance and change. By embracing both, we can address life’s contradictions without losing our balance. Both mindfulness training and DBT have significant bodies of academic research that provide scientific evidence to support them as effective therapy modalities.

In our sessions, we integrate these two approaches. This synergy empowers you to manage distress, cultivate emotional stability, and improve your relationships, ultimately leading to a more fulfilling life. Through mindfulness, you learn to witness your thoughts and emotions without judgment, allowing for increased self-awareness. Coupled with DBT's skill-based approach, you are equipped with practical tools to navigate difficult situations and emotions with ease. You will be encouraged to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors at your own pace. This therapeutic process is a co-creative journey, where your experiences and insights play a vital role. This collaboration fosters an environment where deep transformation can occur.
